What is Supported Family Time? 

Supported Family Time is for families where trust has broken down or communication is difficult. The centre provides a neutral, safe space which helps children spend time with a non-resident parent or family member. Staff and volunteers are available to support you, but they do not closely observe or monitor conversations and do not write reports.  

Who is it for?

When contact can safely take place without supervision. 

Where parents may not be ready for fully unsupervised visits, but communication is still difficult. 

As a next step after supervised session  

You don’t need to meet the other person involved unless it’s safe and agreed – this depends on your child’s wishes and your own comfort and safety. 

How do supported sessions work? 

Several families will be together in the same space. 

There is no close observation or evaluation of what happens in the sessions. 

The non-resident parent must arrive 15 minutes before and stay 15 minutes after the session.

When are supported sessions available? 

Sessions are held in the centre.

Sessions run fortnightly on a Saturday between 10am - 12pm. 
 

How much does it cost? 

Usually, the parent who doesn’t live with the child pays, unless you agree otherwise. 

Per session (in the centre - 2 hours): 

A non-refundable referral admin fee £70  

Supported sessions are free. Donations are welcome.
